Safe Sex

First I want to start off by saying that we are not telling anyone to go out and have sex. We do not advocate underage sex. This section is here to provide you with information on safe sex practices.

To me, sex is something special between two people who love each other. I am not here to preach that if you are a minor that you should or should not be having sex. But I do believe that you have your entire life ahead of you and sex should not be a part of your life until you are an adult and understand that sex is not just about "feeling good" or "doing it because everyone else is."

A major issue with sex between gays is that many gays believe that there is no risk involved because you can't get pregnant. You also need to think about the risk of disease. Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) can affect you for the rest of your life and could even kill you. If you do have sex, PLEASE use a condom or for females, a dental dam. Both are available at your local drug store or neighborhood health clinic.

Condoms, although not 100% effective, are the safest way to prevent transmitting disease in males and dental dams the safest protection for females.

For males, it is very important if you are going to have anal sex that you also use some form of lubricant. You should only use lubricants specifically made for sexual intercourse. Using oil based lubricants such as Vaseline are dangerous not only because they cause condoms to break down and break or tear, they also trap bacteria in the body. The tissue inside your anal canal is very delicate and can tear easily. This can cause damage such as bleeding and tearing. Please be very careful if you do decide to practice anal sex.

Sexually transmitted diseases can be transmitted through blood, semen and other bodily fluids. Some sexuallly transmitted diseases can be in your system for years before you ever even know that you have it. And no matter how much you think you know your partner and how much you trust your partner, you do not know who they have slept with. If they have not been tested for STDs you are playing Russian Roulette with your life. There is never an excuse for why you "didn't use a condom." "Oh, I forgot," "It would have killed the mood," "They are uncomfortable..." All it takes is one time, that's it. One "Oops I forgot" could cost you your life.

Again, we are not doctors, please consult your doctor or there are millions of resources available online for safe sex practices.

Across the globe, 20 million people have died so far of AIDS, 40 million are infected and another 25 million may be infected by the end of the decade (quoted from National Public Radio©). Don't become another number to add to the list.

There are health clinics everywhere that you can have an STD test done without anyone ever knowing. You go in and give them a fake name and then you get your test results. It is totally anonymous. Noone, not even your parents need to know.

Again, we are not trying to preach here, but we do want you to be aware that you can have fun and be safe at the same time.
